Purpose and Mission
The Children Orphanage Doming Savio, was founded January 5,
1980, by a group of people concerned of the extreme
poverty, abuse and violence against the children
in the poor neighborhoods, practice in those times.
This group was directed by a French Priest, father
Luis Criotti. He leaves the Orphanage in December l980,
considering is time to continue his mission in another
location.
The Orphanage stays in the hands of Olga Diaz with 2
other people, without a house or money, only with the
desire to protect these children.
From this moment they initiate the idea of how to live
maintain the orphanage and accomplish legal entity, that
would allow major security for the children.
We reached this goal the 19 of December 1984, RUT
71.191.200-2, and it's legal name is FUNDACION HOGAR DE
MENORES DOMINGO SAVIO.
The foundation is constituted by a committee of 9 Directors,
which I direct and act as legal representative.
Our Home for the Children is defined as a family,
whose objective is to provide a substitute of a family,
the boys and girls living here are divided in two
houses with 9 children in each, and in charge we have
2 workers that do as mothers and 2 aunts who help them
with the house work and in the kitchen.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
- Offer a family house, to the children in care,
providing them with the material, physical and
love needs required for their personality development. All
this in a harmonious atmosphere, a normal life, to
to which each boy and girl has a right.
- Educate and provide this minors with the capacity
to become productive adults in our society.
- Guide the parents so they can improve their quality
of life to be able to reunite with their children as soon as
possible.
CHILDREN'S FUTURE
These children can stay in the Hogar as long as they
desire, with the condition they will respect the rules of
the home. This will allow them to study professional careers
base on each capacity and the money available the Hogar has
at the time which will provide scholarship for them.
CONCLUSION
The Hogar has the best goals to help these children, but
for continuing a quality and better care for them, it needs
a strong financial assistance, so it can dedicate its efforts
to Love and educate these children.
The Hogar does not receive any financial assistance from
the Government and it depends only from individual donations.
Most of the food, clothing and other contibutions come from
Chile. Nevertheless, due to the fact that it is so difficult
to obtain money donations in Chile, all other expenses are
convered from donations coming from the United States. The
funds collected in the US cover approximately 2/3 of the
operational budget. of the Hogar.
All donations make a world of benifites for this children
and 100 percent of each donation is sent to the Hogar in Chile.
